Oops...
5 months have passed and I'm finally getting back to posting something on the blog. Sorry about that!
So here's the scoop with everything that has been going on at the store:
June saw Harriet and myself hosting three lovely ladies for our Quilter's Academy 5-day boot camp
July- Harriet was in Canada for two weeks while I finished up the preparations not only for Shop Hop but also for the first ever Denver County Fair, where we were sponsoring the quilt competition.
August, was Shop Hop, where I served hot dogs, chips and brownies outside while stamping passports and chatting with the ladies from the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum.
September brought the beginning of the class schedule, and now finally
October is here and nearly gone and with it, a bunch of events... the biggest being the extension of our daily store hours. Monday - Thursday we are now open until 6pm, Friday and Saturday we are open from 10am -5pm, still and always closed on Sundays.
This morning (October 22) we had out second customer appreciate pancake breakfast and show and tell- to see pictures of our customers stellar accomplishments, visit our flickr page...
Next Saturday (29th) and Monday (31st) we are celebrating Halloween! This is Mel and my favorite holiday so we are doing it up right!
Wear your creative costume into the store on either of these days and get 30% off an item of your choice as well as 15% off all notions.
The 29th we are also celebrating National Cat day (Harriet and my favorite pets) by giving your 20% off the great cat fabric we have in the store.
We will have refreshments and treats in the classroom for the tricker treater in all of us so come join the fun!
And stay tuned, as I keep the blog updated with all the fun goings on at Harriet's!

Yikes! I can't believe it has been since January that I last wrote on our blog!! So here is the skinny-
Harriet and I have been hard at work getting the manuscript writing for our Quilter's Academy book series- we turned the writing in the beginning of April and are now working on getting 17 quilts quilted!
The store is busy and doing well- Mel has been moving fabric and redecorating and the store looks great with all the fresh new spring/ early summer fabric in stock. We are also receiving our orders of patriotic fabrics to support of Shop Hop theme this year of "America the Beautiful". Keep an eye out for the announcements about the Shop Hop quilt and events taking place the first weekend in August.
I am currently in beautiful Salt Lake City attending Quilt Market. So far have found lots of great new patterns and my brain is full of new class and event ideas for the store.
On a personal note- just have to tell you all how wonderful downtown Salt Lake is... I have been either riding the light rail or walking everywhere I go- it is such a lovely city with tons of things to do and a great atmosphere. I'm not much of an urbanite, but this city could make me one... its fun to not have to drive everywhere... and did I mention I'm staying at the Little America! Talk about afforable luxury. I have this great room with a balcony and a water fountain right outside that soothes any frayed nerves and the service and food has been amazing. Even though I'm working this has been a great vacation as well.
So, look out when I get home, I'll be jazzed up and ready to have fun!! Hope to see you all in the store soon!

Well... We are nearly there... I'm just putting the final touches on the class schedule to be posted tomorrow.
We have some great classes - from quick fun classes like Yo-yos, Fabric Postcards and Making Custom Quilt Labels to some great quilt projects from antique quilts- like Crosses & Losses and Young Man's Fancy.
We have 3 new teachers this time: Melissa- who many of you may have met when you have been in the store- she is our full time girl who has a wide variety of interests and talents; Mary who also works for us usually 2 days/week and she has a great background garment sewing and quilting; and Annlee- who has recently returned to the USA from England where she worked with some of the museums there and both wrote and edited quilt books.
We are excited what these three stellar teachers are offering this spring and hope that you will stop by and meet them and take a look at the samples in the classroom when they go up next week.
In the mean time Harriet is hard at work putting her high school geometry lessons to work as she works on writing the drafting chapter for our 4th volume in the Quilter's Academy series. It all about 60° and 45° angles- diamonds mostly- LeMoyne stars, in-set piecing and partial seams... I soon will be hard at working making quilts for the book and am looking forward to that fun challenge!
Please be sure to visit the website and check out the class schedule and while you are there sign up for our e-newsletter!
Happy Quilting! See you in the classroom-
