2010 Newsletter

Happy 2010! Are you as glad to see 2009 gone as we are? We are looking forward to a very happy and prosperous year and hope you will join us for all the great classes and events we have planned.
First off, I want to again say a big thank you to everyone who purchased a Shop Hop finishing kit from us- Thank you for your patience and understanding with the issues we had with getting the fabric. We are already planning the quilt for the 2010 Shop Hop and we promise it is going to be great- our theme this year is “Colorado Memories” and the 7 shops in Shop Hop have again designed a special fabric for the event… one you are sure to love! Keep your eye out for the announcements and unveiling!
Next, as you will notice all through the schedule we are advertising our two new blogs! Harriet and I have set up a blog both for the store and for our new series of books. The store blog (harrietstreadlearts.blogspot.com) will include the class schedule with pictures of the projects being offered, as well as updates on events, tips, the occasional recipe and anything else you, our customer, requests!
The other blog about the Quilter’s Academy books (quiltersacademy.blogspot.com) will have any corrections we find in the books, updates on publication dates, quilt patterns that didn’t make the cut for the books, tips and advice, so be sure to check that out if you have picked up a copy of Quilter’s Academy Vol. 1... and speaking of Quilter’s Academy – Volume 2 will be out in MAY!!! We are so excited! We will again be having a book signing party/reception for the book release, so mark your calendars and come enjoy the fun and food and pick up your copy and get it signed!
And on the subject of technology- we will soon be able to send out email updates to all our customers. If you are interested, please make sure that we have your email address, you can do that by either emailing us your address at harrietstreadlearts@earthlink.net or by stopping by the store and signing up.
Another new thing this year is our first ever offering of a block of the month. When Harriet and I were at Quilt Market in October we saw the quilt and fell in love with it, we hope you do too… We will be offering a monthly class meeting where you will get your new pattern, instructions and have time to start working on the block with the assistance of Debbie, one of our employees!
This brings up the topic of employees… we are looking to hire someone to help at the store once a week… if you are interested stop by and pick up an application. We are also looking for people to help with making samples for the store or to teach classes in the upcoming schedule. Interested? We have an information sheet for you at the counter at the store- stop by and pick one up!
And finally, we are celebrating our 29th year in business this April! And we would like to invited you come celebrate with us by shopping at our annual anniversary sale on April 23rd. Hope to see you then!
